Chippy of the year
Everybody loves the ‘chippy’. It’s a British institution that should be celebrated. That’s why we got together with Rock FM to find out which one you thought was the best of all …
As part of our campaign to raise awareness of the British chippy, Holland’s Pies ran a competition to encourage people to re-visit their favourites and vote for the best.
Over the past few months, people from all across the north west have been voting for the chip shop that makes the best chippy tea. Over 100 chip shops entered into the awards, with nearly 25,000 votes being cast and the top three separated by just 58 votes.
Noblett’s, of Ripon Street, Preston, came out top with over 1,300 votes, closely followed by Thow’d Chippy of Leyland and Green Lane Chippy of Leigh. Jonathan Noblett was ecstatic:
“We’re really proud to have won this award. Competition is stiff amongst chip shops, and this recognition is confirmation of the effort we put into making the best fish and chips possible for our customers. We’d like to thank all who voted for us and Holland’s Pies for running the competition.”
Congratulations to Noblett’s and the best of luck to all our chippys for the future!
