Sainsbury's CEO visits Holland's Pies
A leading figure in British business dropped in to Holland’s Pies to tour the factory and thank the company for their involvement with the grocer’s benevolent fund charity, Caravan. Justin King, the CEO of Sainsbury’s visited the Holland’s factory in Baxenden on the 14th August.
Sainsbury’s is the UK’s longest standing major food retailer and celebrates its 140th anniversary this year from a position of increasing strength. Mr King has been widely credited with this success and for helping to turn the company around since joining in 2004. The visit came as Holland’s are preparing a major re-launch of their new ‘Best Ever’ range, focusing on quality ingredients and traditional recipes.
Sainsbury’s stock the full range of Holland’s products, and Mr King had a ‘sneak preview’ of the rebranded ‘Best Ever’ range of Holland’s pies, before touring the facilities of the famous ‘Big Kitchen’.
Neil Court-Johnston, MD of Holland’s Pies commented on the visit:
“We were delighted to host Justin here at our factory in Baxenden. Caravan does much important work for former employees of the grocery industry who may have fallen on hard times, and Holland’s is proud to support the charity.”
“Justin’s visit coincides with the upcoming launch of our ‘Best Ever’ range, which will be introduced to the public very soon. We’re extremely excited about our new recipes and we are thrilled that Justin has been able to get a sneak preview of our new range before it goes into Sainsbury’s stores.”
Justin King said:
“I very much enjoyed my visit to Holland’s. It is a company with a history of being involved with good causes and has been a great support recently to Caravan, both by attending events and providing sponsorship. Holland’s is an extremely popular brand in the North West. Their products sell well across our stores in the region and I was particularly interested in seeing the unique production processes that give Holland’s pies and puddings their distinctive taste.”
