Premiership boom and bust!
To celebrate Burnley FC’s success in reaching the premiership, Holland’s Pies, the North West’s famous producer of pies and puddings will be presenting a pastry bust of Clarets manager Owen Coyle to the club.
The bust has been created by Prudence Staite of Food is Art, a company which specialises in making sculptures and other artwork from food. In the past, Prudence has created Chris Moyles’ head out of chocolate, a picture of the Top Gear boys out of baked beans and even a pizza dough Pope!
Standing at around two foot high and weighing around 60 kilos, the sculpture of Owen Coyle is being made entirely out of pastry. The bust has taken three weeks to complete and has been part-baked with a special hand-held tool, meaning it should last for around two years!
Prudence said:
“It’s been a lot of fun working on Owen’s statue. I’ve not done much work in pastry before so it has been quite a steep learning curve for me, but I’m really pleased with how it looks. The only unfortunate thing for Holland’s fans is that there’s no meaty filling!”
Holland’s Pies MD, Neil Court-Johnston commented on Burnley’s achievements:
“Although we won’t be sponsoring Burnley next year, we couldn’t have hoped for a better way to top off our partnership than seeing them take a place amongst the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in the top flight of English football. We hope the pastry bust will act as a novel and fitting farewell gift to the club to help celebrate the man who made it all possible!”
Holland’s Pies three-year shirt sponsorship deal came to an end with Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League at the end of this season. However, Neil does not regret missing out on the chance to sponsor Burnley in the top league in the world:
“Holland’s heartland is in the North West. Therefore, next season we will be continuing to support football around the North West as part of our commitment to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and develop future stars. Burnley fans needn’t worry though, as Holland’s Pies will still be available at Turf Moor next season!”
