Holland's to donate thousands of pies to local charities this Christmas
Holland’s Pies, producer of the north west’s favourite pies and puddings, is set to expand its program of pie donations to charities across the north west – starting this Christmas.
Currently, Holland’s donates a total of 432 pies a week to Accrington based charity Maundy Relief, but this number is set to be increased to 3600 as the programme is expanded throughout the north west. Neil Court-Johnston, managing director of Holland’s Pies explains:
“There are so many excellent local charities and it will be a real pleasure to help them further. That’s why we’re offering a sizeable weekly provision to the region’s official charities. All we wish in return is that the supplies can be collected.
He continued:
"This company is proud of its roots in the region. We’ve been established in the area for over one hundred and fifty years, take our role in the community very seriously and always seek to contribute positively towards it."
Dorothy Ann McGregor, who founded Maundy Relief fourteen years ago, already benefits from the charitable contributions. She said:
"Holland’s weekly contribution has made it so much easier for us to provide hot, substantial, nourishing and extremely popular meals for our guests. We appreciate it no end, as we feed thousands in need for free every month, and to know Holland’s intend to expand their programme even further is wonderful."
Holland’s employs over 400 people at its Lancashire base and is part of the chilled division of Northern Foods. The company enjoys a 60% share of the market in the north west, an area where 92% of people have heard of Holland’s Pies.
