Holland’s spread some Christmas cheer
Holland’s Pies, the North West’s best loved producer of pies and puds, is this Christmas expanding its program of pie donations to Bolton Nightstay, a homeless hostel in the city.
Currently, Holland’s, which recently won an award for their work in the local community, donates over 500 pies and puds a week to a range of charities throughout Lancashire. These include Maundy Relief in Accrington, the Fox Street Shelter in Preston and the Mustard Charity in Manchester.
The Bolton Nightstay hostel opened around six months ago and is part of the Bolton Young Person’s Housing charity. It has eight beds and caters for 16-21 year-olds on a night-by-night basis.
Diane Gilmore is the manager of Bolton Nightstay. She said:
“At Nightstay we aim to give as many young people as possible a safe place to spend the night, plus a hot meal at night and breakfast before they leave. We’ve helped literally hundreds of people since opening, but funding is always tight.”
“We’re immensely grateful to Holland’s for their donations. It will make providing our guests with a hot, substantial and nourishing meal much easier – plus a Holland’s pie is always a popular meal!”
Neil Court-Johnston, Managing Director at Holland’s said:
“Holland’s is very proud of its roots in the region, which stretch back over 150 years. We take our role in the community very seriously and always seek to contribute towards it.”
“Bolton Nightstay, and other charities like it, provide an invaluable service to some of the most vulnerable people in the area. We hope the pies we are donating will make the work they carry out easier.”
