Holland’s celebrates success in business awards
Holland’s Pies, the North West’s best loved producer of pies and puds, has been recognised by the North West Chambers of Commerce annual business awards for its “outstanding contribution to the local area.” The 158-year-old company particularly impressed the judging panel with its commitment to local charities and the people of Lancashire.
Holland’s supports numerous causes across the local area. These include supplying over 1,000 free pies a week to local charities such as Maundy Relief, THOMAS Project and Fox Street Shelter. Every year the company also selects several “Charities of the Year”. This year has seen Holland’s support the East Lancs Hospice, and both Alder Hey and Manchester Children’s Hospitals.
Another area which impressed the judges was Holland’s involvement with the Lancashire Education Business Partnership (LEBP) which seeks to build relationships between local businesses and education institutions. This partnership has seen Holland’s host development days for local food technology teachers as well as help in the development of a new teaching resource for GCSE pupils.
Neil Court-Johnston, Managing Director of Holland’s, explained the company’s commitment to the local area:
“Holland’s Pies holds a special place in the hearts of many in the North West; we’ve been a part of Lancashire life for over 150 years. This gives the company a unique market position, but also means that we have a responsibility to put something back into the local community which has supported us for generations.”
