'Chippy Of The Year' announced

Holland’s Pies ran the competition as part of its campaign to raise awareness of the great British chippy and to encourage people to visit their local chippy. Over the past few months, people from all across the north west have been voting for the chip shop that makes the best chippy tea.

Over 100 chip shops entered into the awards, with nearly 25,000 votes being cast. Noblett’s, of Ripon Street, Preston, came out top against stiff competition, with over 1,300 votes.

Noblett’s has been frying in Preston since 2002. Apart from providing the town with the best fish, chips and pies in Lancashire, Noblett’s also sponsor Preston North End’s England U21 full-back Billy Jones, who recently visited the shop to help celebrate the award with owner Jonathan Noblett.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Noblett’s have also donated 50 tickets for the next PNE game to Eldon Primary School.

“We’re really proud to have won this award,” said Jonathan. “Competition is stiff amongst chip shops, and this recognition is confirmation of the effort we put into making the best fish and chips possible for our customers. We’d like to thank all who voted for us, and Holland’s Pies for running the competition. We’re also extremely grateful to our staff who worked really hard during this campaign.”
