I know that face

When we unveiled our new point of sale material for chippies, we had no idea how popular it would be! Within days we were getting calls from all over the North West from customers desperate for copies of the nostalgic shots.

For some it was about more than just a trip down memory lane though - for Christine Mallon from Widnes it was personal. Close family friend Helen Macintyre was in her local chippy one day and spotted a familiar face in one of the photos. After much persuasion the chippies lent her the poster, which she took straight to Christine's uncle David Bond.

David confirmed the man in the picture was Peter Mallon, Christine's father, and the family has since spotted the poster in chippies across the region. "Ironically, we found the poster in the chippy just down the road from where he lived!" said Christine. "We asked how we could get copies, and fortunately someone from Holland's was there at the time - within days we had ten."

"We were all so excited when we saw it - everyone says I look the spitting image of him. Now we're determined to figure out who his companions are, and where and when it was taken." They've narrowed down the date a little - in the picture Mr. Mallon sports a watch which was a 21st birthday present from his Gran.

Peter Mallon passed away in 1997, but family and friends are immensely proud to see the photographs appearing in chippies across the North West.
