Holland's Heroes Helping Beat the Winter Blues!
This winter will be most depressing yet according to new research • 74% say recession will lead to worst-ever winter • 62% will have less cash to spend… • …But comfort food tops the table for pick me ups • November is pie month – get bumper delivery courtesy of Holland’s
Holland’s is declaring November ‘pie month’ to support the launch of its NEW Best Ever Recipes, and will be helping people across the North West beat the winter blues by searching for Holland’s Heroes – local people who deserve a bumper delivery of lovely pies, to cheer them up.
The idea came about after Holland’s research found a massive 73% of people predicted this winter will be the worst-ever in terms of enjoyment, fun, and quality of life, due to the recession.
Luckily, pies could be the answer; behind a casserole it was voted the nation’s favourite comfort food. With this in mind, Holland’s, in celebration of the launch of its best-ever recipes, has declared November ‘pie month’ and is calling for people to nominate why they, or someone they know, deserve a Holland’s Heroes visit.
Neil Court-Johnston, managing director of Holland’s, said: “Holland’s Heroes is all about finding those people who deserve to be rewarded, have reason to celebrate, or need cheering up during the cold months. In fact, our research shows that more than 80% of people say a surprise delivery of pies, packed to the brim with more filling and flavour, will cheer them up this winter, so that’s exactly what we intend to do!
“So, if you’re a sports team who have just won a tournament, a factory that’s beating the recession, a local fundraiser or simply someone who needs cheering up, then we want to hear from you!”
Holland’s mascot, Stan the Van Man, will deliver the surprise pie packages for the most deserving nominations throughout November – voted for by readers of the Holland’s blog and by the Holland’s team.
Holland’s best-ever recipes include traditional favourites like our steak and kidney pie, packed with tender diced beef and rich gravy, through to our Cheese & Onion Pie; now made with 100% mature, locally produced cheddar cheese, complimented with fresh onions and mustard powder. There really is something to suit every taste bud.
