Holland's Cheese and Onion Pie Nominated for a Vegetarian Society Award
Fantastic news, our cheese and onion pie has been shortlisted for an award by The Vegetarian Society... it's a finalist in 'The Best Convenience Food' category.
We blogged back in June (see previous blog post) suggesting that fans of our cheese and onion pie vote for it in The Vegetarian Society Awards 2010 - well guess what, loads of you decided to do just that and duly got us shortlisted!
Apparently thousands of nominations were received, in this the tenth year of the awards that celebrate the very best in vegetarian food, so a very big thank you from all of us here at the bakery to everyone that voted - we really appreciate it.
As you probably know, our improved cheese and onion pie recipe was conceived with the help of our wonderful team of pie-panellists and is made with mature cheese sourced from the award-winning Dew-Lay Creamery in Garstang and produced from the milk of cows grazed exclusively on Bowland fells or Fylde pastures... in other words, it's made in Lancashire!
So what's next you may ask? Well, The Vegetarian Society panel of judges will judge all shortlisted products and the winners will be announced on Thursday 28th October during an awards ceremony at the London Canal Museum.
Fingers crossed for October - we'll let you know what happens... probably live from the awards via Twitter (We're @HollandsPies by the way - do send us a tweet to say hello).
