Our causes
We're proud to play our part, raising loads of money for lots of local and national charities. This year we hope to raise £60,000.
Caravan, the National Grocers Benevolent Fund, is a charity which focuses on helping employees, or former employees, of the grocery industry who may have fallen on hard times. We recently raised almost £12,000 for this charity at a golf day event, and will be raising almost £4000 more at this year’s ‘Windermere Row’ – a gruelling 12 mile sponsored rowing race around the lake, sure to make even us hardened pie makers weak at the knees!
We will also be taking part in the Great North Run in aid of Cancer Research. 22 members of the team will be donning their running trainers in September, hoping to raise £500 each – a total of £11,000!
Each year, we also nominate several ‘Holland’s Charities of the Year’. As a business, we get everyone involved in raising funds for our chosen charity; no excuses are accepted, even from the management!
This year we will be supporting Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Manchester Children’s Hospital and the East Lancs. Hospice, all of whom will be receiving our fund-raising efforts later this year.
If you would like your charity to
be considered, please drop us an email and tell us why you should be one of Holland’s Charities of the Year.
Sometimes we produce pies which don’t quite come up to our high standards. There’s nothing wrong with them – they’re usually just a bit of a funny shape! Instead of throwing these away, we donate them to the good causes listed below – a much better use for perfectly good food, we think you’ll agree. We give away approximately 80 dozen per week (960), or around £480-worth. That's nearly £25,000 a year in free food!
